Jackson has a new sister and he is very much in love with her. Reagan is a true blessing to our family. She will join the growing ranks of the Schoettlers and Andersons - David and his wife, Shannon, had a boy, Calvin, in December; Katie and Kipp are due any day now; Betsy and Rob had a baby girl, Hannah, just a few days ago; Naomi and Matt are due in December. With all of these babies and my beautiful baby girl - I am feeling so much love! I cannot explain the overflowing joy in my heart, but I am truly in love with my baby girl, Reagan, and my best buddy, Jackson. God has truly blessed me with the best children ever. This is true for all parents, but I can honestly say my heart and mind feel this truth in its purest form. I grow each day with these kids. Jackson has taught me true happiness and Reagan has taught me sincere love - what could be better. I am not perfect, but I can truly say I am the best I can be!

My good friend moved away and I found myself squandering for friendship again. I don't trust easily and find myself more content with being by myself with my kids, but this friend brought out a better side of me. I miss her, but I'm grateful she hasn't moved too far away - she's God's blessing to me and I'm so honored to have her in my life. She has also taught me that I can trust again - and for that I am forever grateful because I have trusted in another great friend and these two ladies are just the best!

Well, Baby girl is asleep and so should I be. Daddy likes to call her Honeybee and I often see why - she is sweet and so wonderful!

My posts will be more frequent and up to date so please keep checking back to get to know us better!

Happy Birthday Little Man!!

Where has the last two years gone?! He is getting so big and learning so much! His recent kick is animal noises: cow, cat, monkey, goat, horse, lion, dog, duck, bird... He can also say two and holds up two fingers. Jackson is such a smart kid and so well-behaved. Of course he has his moments - usually when we don't get what he is trying to tell us, but then he'll take our hand or pull on our legs to get us to go where he wants us to go. He loves his big boy bed - as you read below in the Easter blog. Our tub is broken so Jackson will usually take showers, but last night he wanted to take a bath and demanded we use the sink. No joke! When I pointed to the sink, he started doing his white-boy slim dance and was once again happy! Although our little man is super skinny, he is really tall so he is quickly outgrowing the sink as a tub! Daddy will just have to get the tub fixed. We are in the process of finishing our basement. Thanks to my brother for studding the walls and my dad for the electrical work, we are able to afford new furniture and fixtures. We are one week away from the rough-in inspection and then on to sheet rocking and painting. Jackson will love all the extra space to play and mommy will love to get a scrapbooking room. Oh and daddy will finally be able to have his own office - not the dining room table anymore.

As Mr. Independent continues to grow, we are all learning new things about life. The following list is some things that Jackson has taught Jared and I over the last 20 months. 1. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. 2. patience is a definite virtue. 3. love can be found in the humor of a child. 4. A "muah" makes all owies better. 5. kids are flexible and prove it often when they continuously fall(jump) off furniture. 6. Daddy is the softy and Jackson knows it! 7. "Go now" means now or endure a screaming toddler. 8. Laughter is the best medicine for a tantrum 9. Cash is a good, well-mannered dog and can handle Jackson's love and affection aka - squeezes and collar pulling. 10. Jackson is an amazing disciple for Christ - he loves for us to pray with him at night.

Easter 2009

Jackson finally understood the whole Easter basket idea - eat everything as fast as you can before mommy finds you! We set his basket down for him to see and get quick pictures and before we knew it, he was digging into the bunny and eating its ear off. After church he dove into the basket again and ate more chocolate marshmallow bunnies. Then we were off to the Spencer house for Easter lunch. Jackson didn't eat much there but after his sugar high wore off, he crashed for a good 2 hour nap. The photo right above - is of Jackson's big boy bed and his cousins, Doran and Addison. Jackson loves his cousins and had a blast playing with them all night. Jackson's big boy bed has been an easy transition - he doesn't ever get out of bed until we come get him. Even if he is up earlier than us, he plays with the music player next to him or gets a toy and gets back in to bed. He is such a great kid - listens so well and his tantrums aren't too bad. He is currently caught in the communication hole - he wants to say something, but is not clear in his words so he does get frustrated at us when we don't get it. But we are working on it and he is learning more words everyday. Jackson is so smart!

Little Jokester

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v20.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D708ab155e8a73b6b%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331764390%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D71ED8A4C0966B72A0B9456559AB8977E653A95AB.7E108EFC826EB5EF8089A0BC3A1A2649F6C456BF%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D708ab155e8a73b6b%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DhNhn3qriJF9QVryBBxxJ7qbb5wo&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Thank you Auntie Kate for the 'toy' - we'll return your hat undamaged on the 20th... Jackson has declared his independence on putting on his shoes, although zipping them up or pushing them on all the way is still my job, and he is now feeding himself. Even if some of the food doesn't make it into his mouth, Jackson is determined to feed himself. He continues to show us God's amazing blessings! What a joy to watch as Jackson grows and develops! Jackson is a true testiment to God's love for this world! Here are a list of his favorite words:

1. Pictures - he LOVES to watch slideshows on my computer and works the mouse himself. - see picture above - the top picture he is saying pizza...

2. Dog - the name for every animal he doesn't know the name for...

3. Bird - anything with wings except for:

4. Duck - any yellow bird

5. Moo - all black and white animals

6. Hot - when he gets close to the heat vent in the bathroom or when you take something out of the microwave or stove - its always hot to him.

7. Meow

8. Pizza - sometimes mistaken for Peta (Uncle Peter) - but he'll say that anytime he sees a picture of a pizza

9. Burr - whenever he gets outside in the cold or touches the cold window

10. mommy and daddy - although he uses the names intermittently for both us

11. Bubble - whenever he wants to take a shower or turn on his fish night light

He also uses other animal noises as their names - he nays at horses and oinks at pigs

He is such a smart kid and catches on to everything so quickly. Now is the time to be very cautious at everything we say! :) He is so wonderful and full of humor! He smiles 95% of his life and the other 5% is when he is sleeping, just up from a nap, or hungry. He also just ate half of a totino's pizza in the last 10 minutes!! With a 48 degree day, we decided today was the day! He wasn't too big on the sledding, but loved the snow!! Grampa Chuck built a snow man and Jackson and daddy took to the hill. It wasn't until daddy pulled Jackson around in the sled (thank you Grama Julie Anderson for the sled) that he was at his happiest - until daddy pulled the sled over mommy in the snow. Jackson enjoyed that the most and wanted to roll around too. He is a true Minnesotan! Next year we may conquer the ski hills!!

The Best Aunt EVER!

I had the best Friday night! My favorite aunt Brenda came down from the cities and we talked until midnight-we haven't seen each other for over 7 years! Jared made his pork loin with raspberry sauce and Brenda brought delicious desserts from Biaggis! We shared updates on our lives, talked about memories from the past, and joked about Pretty Woman - the movie I went to with her when I was 10 years old. Granted she did close my eyes during the piano scene and bathroom scene, but I still got to see Pretty Woman at the age of 10! Back in the "day" that was a pretty dirty movie! :)

It was so great to see her again and catch up! She gave Jackson some coloring books and markers and also a dump truck he can ride on. Then she surprised me with a doll made out of my great-grandmother's pillow case. I will forever cherish this doll. I can close my eyes and still hear my great-grandmother's voice telling us to sit down and eat while she stayed busy around the kitchen.

Next time we get together, we will meet her husband and get to know more of what we've missed these past few years - maybe even whip out the karoake machine.
Update on the Anderson Krew - check out the pictures added below!

This year has been all about learning and growing as a family! Jackson is only 5 days away from 18 months old and is keeping us on our toes. He was walking by his first birthday, running shortly afterward and now he is jumping out of the main section of the carts at stores and running away! Nothing can get in the way of little man conquering the world! Jackson has been healthy - except for his occasional teething colds and runny noses. All of his scans have come back clear and his xrays continue to be clear! We truly believe God will keep Jackson PPB free to give hope to other PPB families! Although Jackson is currently moving into the tantrum stages of communication, he only throws tantrums as the last straw. He is good with certain signs and we have caught on to some sign language that he has made up on his own. It's actually quite cute when he signs something new and has a way of teaching it to us. :) He is definitely a very smart kid - knows a few animals and their sounds - cows, dogs, deer, birds, and fish. He also knows when he is doing something he shouldn't and will turn to us right before he does it. He listens well, but certainly picks his moments when he doesn't want to listen. He loves to gives kisses after he has done something wrong and thinks it will buy his way out of time out - sometimes it does - it is tough not to fall for it when he gives us those big blue eyes and sweet little kisses. No worries to the grandparents though - he is a well disciplined child. :)
Jared's travel has slowed down for now, but the busy season will pick up again in March. Until then, we are enjoying a little more consistency in our schedule - well as consistent as we can get during the busy holidays!
I am two classes down with only six to go before I graduate! I have a lot of help and support from Jared and our families! It is a lot of work, but with God's blessings and strength - I'll get it done!
Well - little man is awake from his nap so I should go, but there is more to come!

Have a fabulous New Year!

More of 2008

Road Trippin to Wyomying - see the Chocolate Smile
Skinny Man eating his mac n cheese!

Catching Up with 2008

This is it! I can't believe it is almost October and I have not been very good at keeping up with posting news and updates! Sorry! Seriously! Where has time gone?
I have started back to school with the determination to get 'er done! If I stay on schedule, I will graduate in July of 2009 with my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. My biggest reasoning for going back to school is to appease the people! I was turned down for eight jobs last year because of my lack of a BA Degree! It was noted that I had more than enough experience, but their policy stated all new applicants must have a BA degree! I figure a few really hard months and it will all be over!
Jared is travelling a lot more lately and getting into his busy season. He is great at what he does and loves his job! Who could ask for more?! He will be home for another week and then he is off to another state. I am thinking of going with him to Vegas in November. We'll see when we get closer to that date.
And on to our most important news: Jackson is absolutely amazing!! He is growing so fast and learning and discovering so much! His recent thing is his climbing on and over everything. Two weeks ago he climbed on to a folding chair and fell - giving himself a black eye. He also LOVES to put the dish towel over his face and walk around until he hits something. Then he laughs hysterically and does it again. Just the other day, he couldn't find the dish towel, so he grabbed Jared's clean boxers out of the basket and put them on his head. Where is our camera at those moments?! He also loves to shake his finger back at you when you tell him no! His favorite game around the house is to chase me around the kitchen and then stop, laugh, and then run after me some more. After he catches me, he'll hug me, pat me on the back, and then kiss me! He is such a great kid! So full of love and happiness!
Please make sure to send up a prayer for Jackson. He is going in for a CT Scan and ultrasound of his kidneys on Monday morning. This is just a foundation CT scan to rule out any chances of PPB in his lungs or kidneys, but he does have to be sedated and Jared and I are really stressed and anxious about this. No one wants to see their little ones in situations like this and we are a bit scared at the possibility of PPB being evident in his body! Please pray for clear scans and a quick and successful sedation.
We will update when we have the results!
Other than this big update - our lives are chaotically blessed (is that a word)? Well, we are very busy, but blessed and love it! Have a great weekend!

Brussels to Germany - Day 5 - 7/28/08

Grand'Place, Brussels
Mannekin Pis
"Large" Coffee in Brussels
Enjoying a Krusovice Bier in Heidelberg, Germany
Official Cukoo Clock Shop in Black Forest Area, Germany

We began our early morning with a great breakfast and quickly loaded the bus to tour Brussels on our way to Black Forest Area, Germany. Our Tour Director, Babette (Hungary), took us to the Grand'Place in the center of Brussels. We walked to the Mannekin Pis to view the well-known art piece. It pees water on regular days, dressed up for special occasions, and has been known to pee beer for the people to drink during all special occasions. After the tour, we were given an hour of time on our own. It was raining so we made our way to a Cafe' and Jared ordered a large coffee. It was smaller then his four fingers put together. A large coffee in Europe is comparable to a small taste test cup in the US. They would think our Venti is HUGE!

We loaded the bus to make our way to THE Cukoo Clock Shop. Here they make authentic, hand-made cukoo clocks. With an average price of 500 Euro, we decided to purchase a beautiful hand-blown necklace for my mom. We missed the large Cukoo Clock (seen in picture above) in action because we were touring the shop. It would have been great to see the scene in action.

After 30 minutes on our own, we loaded the bus again and headed to Heidelberg, Germany. We stayed the night in a wonderful, family-owned hotel. We were served a lamb stew and enjoyed shots of Jagermeister-our tour director encouraged we try the local liquor and many of us did.

Since this hotel was located in the middle of the Black Forest, we had no access to phones, email, tv and the small village was shut down. We knew Jackson was in great hands so we decided to enjoy ourselves and take in the fact we were in Germany. We sat outside on the stoop and enjoyed a couple rounds of German beer with a couple of our new friends on our tour before heading to bed at midnight again.

Brussels, Begium - Day 4 - 7/27/08

The view from our ferry
Arriving in Calais, France - waiting to go through Customs
World Fair Atomium from 1958
The beds in our hotel in Brussels, Belgium

We took in the beautiful view of the English Channel from the top deck of the ferry before heading below for lunch. We had Fish and Chips again - least expensive item on the menu. We quickly realized in London that the US Dollar was weak in Europe (2.25USD to 1Pound, 1.65USD to 1 Euro). After we landed in Calais, France, we went through customs and experienced the harsh French border patrol. We stood behind five men and one woman from Pakistan and the French Customs Guards were not hiding their racial profiling. They first made a comment to one man that he did not look like his passport, saying his cheeks were too chubby. They took their precious time reviewing each passport and re-reviewing each passport, then telling each other to really make sure these people are okay to go through. After all that, I got up to the desk and the French Customs Guard didn't really look at my passport, stamped it, and said welcome to France.

We made a quick stop at the Atomium in Brussels before heading to our hotel. Jared and I were both caught off guard at the site of our room. First of all, it was tiny and second of all, the bed was actually two beds and we had to push them together at night. We went out for dinner on our own and of course, tried the local cuisine and drank Grimbergen double dark (mine) and Duvel (Jared). We sat out on the terrace and were soon hit up by a young gypsy girl asking for money. Fortunately a local woman and her family yelled for her to leave us alone. I have a weak heart for kids, but know better than to give money to beggers in foreign countries.

With an early wake up call - we decided to head in at midnight.

London, England - Days 2&3 - 7/25-7/26/08

Tony and Will - two English "blokes" we met at a pub on our first night.
Front of St. Paul Cathedral
Prince Charles and Lady Camilla's Guard
Buckingham Palace
Windsor Castle - Queen Elizabeth II courtyard

Day 1 was the 8.5 hour flight with unlimited movies, two meals, beer, wine, pop and a short 4 hour sleep...

Jared and I had a blast in London. We took in as much local cuisine (Fish and Chips) and beer (Strongbow) as we could. Our first night, we met three englishmen at a pub. They were discussing the ridiculous lyrics of Kid Rock's new song and we joined in after they began mentioning his destruction of two classic songs. We agreed with their comments and soon began our rounds of local ales with the englishmen - Tony, Will, & John. The next day we set out for two excursions through the city via local guides. We saw St. Paul Cathedral, St. James Palace, Windsor Castle, and Buckingham Palace. We drove by the River Thames and saw the Eye of London. We drove by Big Ben and the current residence of Prince Charles and Lady Camilla. We toured through Windsor Castle and took in the essence of where we were - we stood in places Kings and Queens have stood, we sat where Presidents and Prime Ministers have dined, and we walked through the bedrooms of some of the most historic figures of time.

After a very busy two days in London, England, we made our way via Ferry across the English Channel to Calais, France for the official beginning of our land tour.

Visiting the TRUE Swiss Miss!!

Today we finally visited our Swiss Miss, Nicole!! We are both a bit anxious and don't want to leave Jackson, but as many have reassured us - he is in good hands! He will be staying with my parents and Jared's parents throughout the 10 days we are away. He will most likely be spoiled rotten and not miss us as much as we'll miss him. Jackson has been walking for a bit now. His walk is more of a quick shuffle, shuffle, step, step, fall. But he is getting there! He walked across our livingroom and gets the urge to turn around, but usually falls back. Just the other day though he was walking so fast he turned himself around by taking too many steps to the left. It was so cute! He gets going faster than his feet can keep up and before he knew it, he was coming back to me when he meant to be going to the couch. Jackson also has this mischeivious smile - he smiles real big with his teeth crooked to one side. I'll post pics of it as soon as I get my camera downloaded again. He also smiles like that right before he is about to do something he thinks is funny. Then he laughs and waits for you to laugh with him. He has such a great sense of humor! Always wanting to make people laugh! He is such a bundle of love!

4th of July Parade

Last year at this time, we were in the hospital watching the fireworks through a barred window. I spent a week in that hospital healing after Jackson was born! It wasn't too busy (I was the only mom and baby there besides the occasional false alarms) so all the nurses spent their time and energy on us. Extra pudding, extra soda, extra pillows... It was great! Jared and I can't believe it has already been a year! What an amazing year! This year though, we watched the fireworks from the side of the road in St. Peter! It has been an amazing year! Jackson is the most amazing little man and he is such a blessing! He has taught Jared and I so much about life; Live, Love and Laugh often!

Since Jackson has given us so much this last year, we decided to throw him the best first birthday ever! We shared the day with his grandparents, great-grand parents, uncle Jake, auntie Katie, cousin Doran, great-aunt and uncle Jay and Dorene and great cousin Roxie! Jared made a fabulous spread of beef roast, pork roast, chicken drummies, and grilled potatoes. Grandpa Chuck made his cookies and cream and Grama Anderson made seven layer salad. After dinner Jackson opened all his presents and focused on everything, but the gifts. He just loves to take in everything around him! We had to move right into the cake because Jackson was showing his tired, fussy side. There is a before (yes, I baked the cake) and after of the cake. Jackson wasn't sure at first if it was okay to stick his hand into it. He put his thumb in and then he'd look at me for reassurance. After all, I have been telling him no when he tries to smash his food all over his tray during dinner. After a little coaxing from uncle Jake, Jackson had no reservations about putting his entire hand into the cake. It was so fun to watch as he laughed and looked around to make sure everyone was paying attention to him. We finished the night with a bath in the sink and then hugs and kisses from everyone as he went down for bed. We are so grateful for such a wonderful blessing from God. Jackson is truly a gift and we cherish every moment we have with him.

Weekend with the cousins!!

What a weekend it was! Jackson spent quite a bit of time connecting with his cousins - Emma and Garrett. They went swimming in Jackson's new pool, went to the zoo, played at Grama and Grampa Anderson's, acted like jailbirds at the top of the steps, and then as you see in the picture of Garrett - spent some time resting.

I think these three have done it all together! Jackson learned a lot more about sharing - although he likes to yell and Garrett will grunt when they don't want to give something up. Emma has grown so much since we last saw her in Novemer 07. She is now 3 years old and more independent than ever! She loves to sing and can entertain all of us at anytime of the day. She loves to swim, although she does not like getting her head wet. Garrett has grown so much too! He is a little over a year and as much as he loves to be by his mom, he is very independent also! He loves to feed himself and loves his cheerios. I taught him the little spider game - when you walk your fingers like a spider and then tickle. He copied me and even made the doot doot doot noises! He loved the monkeys at the zoo and immitated the noises until someone laughed. Both Emma and Garrett are entertainers and love the attention they get from it. Always bringing smiles to everyone around. It was fun to see them again and to watch Jackson interact with them. It was fun to watch Jackson learn his way in the group - since Garrett is a bit bigger than him, Jackson at first gave in to Garrett, but toward the end of the day - they both put up a good fight for anything they wanted.

We will miss them, but there is plenty of memories to be made in the near future! Especially with another Peterson on the way - Jackson will have plenty of learning to come!

Birthday-Mexican Village style

I have moved a year closer to the big 3-0!! I am now 28 and although my metabolism has slowed down quite a bit - I don't feel any different than I did last year at this time! I do have more energy and I am in a lot better shape - thank you Jackson for keeping me on my toes! Jared took me to the cities on Saturday the 7th, because he had to fly out early on my birthday. I had a blast - we went to the zoo with Jackson and then Jared took me to Punch Pizza! The BEST Neopolitan pizza-ever!! Katie and Doran joined us at the zoo and for lunch! It was a really beautiful day and we all enjoyed the SUMMER weather! On the morning of my birthday, Jared took me out for breakfast before he left for his trip and I enjoyed spending those few minutes with him. He later surprised me at work with a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of PINK flowers - roses, peonies, carnations, and a couple pink accent flowers. It also came with a really neat square PINK vase. Thank you Babe! I loved it! I ended the night by going to Mexican Village - free dinner on your birthday! My parents and Jake came with and we (the legal adults) enjoyed Margarita night and a table full of fajitas. Note to all: DO NOT approve sitting at a booth with 4 adults and a highchair and proceed to order 3 fajitas. Get a bigger table! I burnt my thumb on the hot fajita trays and my mom got her arm and Jake got his hand. Those are HOT plates!! No joke!

All in all, it was a great day! I am very blessed to have another year! She called to tell me that they found more cysts in Tony's lung and the doctors weren't sure if they were cancerous or not. Today I read Tony's caringbridge site and Kim wrote that the doctors want to start Tony on chemo this Friday. They are going to watch the cysts closely and if they grow at all, they will go back in and remove that lobe of his lung along with the cysts. Kim and her husband, Jason, have a lot to think about these next few days, but their faith in God will get them through this. Tony is young enough that he will bounce back and kick this cancer in the butt. I know God is watching over him and the rest of the PPB family and kids. There are so many unknowns about PPB, but our faith in God will get us all through it! Thankfully, the Mink family has a great team of PPB scientists and doctors and a great support group through the PPB Family! Please pray for complete healing for Tony and strength and guidance for Kim and Jason. Also please keep Aleigha Sweet in your prayers. She is another PPB kid and has been battling a relapse for the last few months. She is a strong girl and with God's blessings and all of our prayers, all of these kids will be in remission within the year!

Keepin it cool with Mr. Lion

About a month ago while Jared was out of town, I took it upon myself to buy a walking toy for Jackson-seen in a lot of his current pics. I found this lion at Target and Jackson loved the roar it made. So I bought it, took it home and opened the box to get Mr. Lion out as Jackson fussed for me to hurry. Well... As a new mom, I found out quickly that although these toys are in a large box, they do not come assembled. Ugh! So to ease the fussiness, I gave Jackson one of the wheels and he was happy. Until he heard Mr. Lion roar and then he wanted all of Mr. Lion - NOW! Unfortunately it was not an easy task, but well worth it! Jackson loves to push Mr. Lion around everywhere! He walks with him, pushes him over like a boy and acts like he is fixing him. He loves to ride him for a few minutes, but then he slides off the back and walks with Mr. Lion again! Definitely worth the purchase and time of putting him together. Jackson keeps his cool with Mr. Lion and it helps a lot while Jared is travelling! I applied for my passport and booked a 10 day trip around Europe for Jared's birthday. We go July 24th to August 3rd and we can't wait! We have talked about going to Europe for a long time, but I have been so anxious about leaving Jackson for more than an overnight. I finally got up the nerve and just did it. I wanted to surprise Jared by giving him my passport on his birthday, but I didn't want to wait too long to ensure it was a surprise - he is going to Memphis next week and since I had to email a few of them to ensure he has the time off, I want to make sure it doesn't accidentally get out. He arrived home from Utah on Wednesday and I handed him my passport application with the paid receipt attached. Jared was really surprised and I was thankful I could pull it off! We booked our airline tickets and confirmed the 10 day land tour. We are set to go to London, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Paris!
Now, we just have to figure out who gets Jackson for that time - most likely splitting time between both grandmas.

Swing Swing

Today, Jackson and I, went out on an hour long walk on the Red Jacket trail. We enjoyed the beautiful Spring weather and the birds and squirrels. Jackson's big on pointing at everything he notices. He just takes everything in. After our walk, we went for breakfast at Perkins. He tried orange juice for the first time. He wasn't quite sure about it, but said yum yum and pointed for more. I also gave him a bit of my chocolate muffin and he, of course, said yum yum.

I decided to take him to Spring Lake to check out the geese, but they were all very territorial because their baby geese were around. Thank you Jackson and Jared! I didn't need this to know how blessed I am to be your mom, but it was nice to be pampered.
For all you moms out there - you HAVE to do a seaweed wrap and a Vichy shower! First I was exfoliated and then AApril (yes, it is spelled with two A's) painted on a very warm seaweed gel on my body. After she was done exfoliating and painting, AApril wrapped me in a warm blanket for 30 more minutes while she massaged my scalp! Then I had to wake up and walk across the hall to the Vichy shower - what a great invention! I laid down on a table with a towel over my body and the 9 heavy duty shower heads massaged my back for 30 minutes. I finished the night with a 60 minute swedish massage! So nice, so wonderful!
I can't say it enough - I am so blessed to be Jackson's mom! He is always amazing us with his daily changes of standing on his own (even for a second), playing peek-a-boo, calming down to watch the fan, turning on the lights... Everything! Jackson is an amazing little man! Full of love for everyone he meets! And you can see God in his eyes!
Thanks again for a great mother's day gift!

My First Mother's Day!

Today was my first Mother's Day and I loved it! Jared and Jackson surprised me with eggs in a frame for breakfast and then we spent the whole day together! At daycare on Friday, Jackson made me my first Mother's Day card! Okay so he scribbled on a piece of paper and the daycare ladies wrote Happy Mother's Day, but it is perfect! My son is perfect! He gives me kisses, hugs me, reaches for me, smiles when I come into the room, and giggles when I tickle his tootsies! I am so in love with this amazing blessing! His big blue eyes, his cute dimple, everything... I just love every bit of him! I am such a blessed mom! Thank you God for Jackson! That's our game plan when it comes to Jackson's food! He is getting really good at getting what he wants - especially with his grandparents. Jared and I are pretty good at settling him down before we give him what he wants - he really does understand with us that he cannot whine if he wants something. He tries, but knows it doesn't work. EXCEPT when it comes to his food and bottles! He will scream, grunt, cry, throw himself down, kick, anything he can do to get his food. We've tried to calm him down before he gets his food, but he only gets worse. So - we make sure he eats by 5:30pm and we do not try to multi-task while we feed him. If we don't pay attention and he doesn't get his next bite right away, he starts to fuss and tries to grab his food - causing a big mess - see above picture. Lesson learned - feedings come before anything else! I have to admit, I will take his tiny tantrums over food anyday! Jackson is such a great baby - patient, well-mannered, an amazing blessing, and so happy-all the time! We can't wait to see what Jackson does next, but for now, we'll take in all the new discoveries, tantrums, and giggles he has to offer.

Learning his limits

So we are moved in and trying to unpack. One of us (usually me) watches Jackson and the other (usually Jared) does the unpacking. We switch a few times, but Jackson has really started to cling to momma! I finished the bathroom - well... I ran out of paint with ONE tiny section left, so I am done until I can get the next quart. We thought we lost our Sugarland tickets for the Thursday concert, but after a long search last night, we found them!
We took some time off from the unpacking last night to enjoy a grill out with my family - David was in town and Jackson loves his uncle David! We sat Jackson down in the grass for the first time and he loved it! So much that he tried to eat it! That is only the beginning of Jackson's new found testing of EVERYTHING!
He loves to look at Jared or I right before he is about to do something he isn't quite sure of. If you say no, he stops, looks at you again, and then just does it. He understands no and yes, but wants to know why you say no. Jared and I love to have Jackson explore, figure things out on his own (with guidance) and discover life as he sees fit. Jackson is so smart! He knows if we really don't want him to do something, we'll say no again and pick him up and move him away from whatever he shouldn't do. The biggest obstacle was the outlets - he has figured out how to remove the outlet covers. What a mind this 10 month old little man has!
He never ceases to amaze us! Jackson opens our eyes and our hearts to new things every day. Shortly after this pic, he put the glasses in his mouth and then stuck his tongue out at me!! Then he laughed! He laughed at his little gesture! He is only 9.5 months old and he is already playing jokes on us! What an amazing joy! I hope all of you get the chance to really get to know Jackson and fall in love with him! He is such a blessing - I say it all the time, but he is really such a blessing!

Well, it is late and the bed is calling! Sorry! Life is so crazy with a baby! Not to mention David's wedding last weekend, Jared travelling more often, and oh yeah! We are closing on a house at the end of this month! I am going to look at paint colors this weekend and my only guidelines from Jared - no pink! I think I can manage that since I am a HUGE fan of pink, but not everything should be pink!

My little man is now over 9 months old and looks so much like his daddy! He has four+ teeth and has his first dentist appt on Friday. Yes, first tooth, first visit! We want Jackson to start off with the best health possible and that includes his teeth! He even drink whole milk now!

As I said before, we close on our house at the end of this month. So, instead, I set a couple of realistic goals and I am determined to meet them and set new ones. My first goal, to be the best wife and mom possible. As John Maxwell has said in many of his books, do your best each day by living for today. Don't look back and dwell on what you should have done or don't put things off if you can do it today. I used to be a big procrastinator, but now I thrive off of getting things done right away so I can enjoy my time a lot better. I also have stopped dwelling on my past and I no longer live with regrets. Life is so much better when I am less stressed due to worrying about the past or future. My faith in God has grown so much! I know He will take care of my family and me and He will get us through everything that happens in our lives. How great it is to be under God's control!! When Jackson was born, I gave it all up to God! Our health, our finances, our lives, completely. Of course there are days that I slip up and try to do things my own way, but God quickly opens my eyes to my ways and brings me back in again! I love living my life for God! I strive to be my best at all times and I always know that God will take care of us at all times! Thank you God for kickin my butt into gear and getting me back on track!

Two new teeth for Little Man

Jackson is currently staying with my mom during the day while I work FT. Thankfully they only live a few miles from where I work, so I can visit during the day. When I get there at lunch, my mom glows and she can't stop talking about all that she does with Jackson. She takes him swimming(gives him a bath), lets him scoot about (rides with him on her scooter), and tells him all about the Big Bad Wolf (their black cat)! He loves to hear about the Big Bad Wolf! His entire body whips around when he hears her start that phrase.
My mom has promised me that if Jackson does anything new, she won't tell us about it, she'll let me find out for ourselves. Well... Yesterday I received a voicemail, from my mom, that said I needed to call her. She said it in such an urgent voice, like always, but since I have been away from Jackson all week, I felt that maybe she was serious and it was urgent. When I called her, she said that Jackson has gone through a growth spurt and when I get home, I should watch him closer. And then she said it was oral! I'm not stupid mom!! Obviously Jackson had some teeth coming in?!
When I got to their house, I picked him up and loved on him, and then he smiled and I saw his teeth/gums. He has two teeth coming in on the bottom. They haven't broken through yet, but they will within a couple of days. Jared and I got him baby Tylenol and today... I rushed out at lunch and got Baby Orajel. He doesn't really like the taste of it, but he is SO much happier when it numbs his gums.
My little man is growing so quickly!! But man! He is so amazing and such a blessing!! I hope you will all get a chance to meet him! There are no words to explain what kind of joy Jackson is to this world! Just look at his smile and you will see what I mean!!

PPB Families of Faith

Over the past year, since the last PPB Family weekend, I have had the privilege to get to know many wonderful families and kids with PPB. Quick Catch up: PPB=Pleuropulmonaryblastoma
This is the type of cancer I had, Adam had, and Peter and David almost had... Yeah. That's a whole other blog.
Anyway, many of these families have been keeping us updated through Caringbridge and I have grown very close to all of them. I am SO excited to see them all at the PPB weekend on 8-8-08!
Recently, one of our dearest little guys has gone home to Jesus! David Michael Plattner passed away on 1-6-08 from PPB. He fought hard and gave his all! Plattner family, we want you to know that we are here for you, we pray for you, and you will forever be in our prayers and in our hearts!!
One thing we all must realize when death happens in a family: Never forget them! And never let them be forgotten!! Within the family, that is always the case - we never forget them and try hard to never let them be forgotten. But in many cases, when we try to talk about our loved ones that have passed, many people get uncomfortable and we tend to not talk about them as much. My brother, Adam, passed away 20 years ago and I love to talk about him, but the second I mention that he died, people turn the conversation and it ends within a couple of seconds. I know death is perceived to be sad and negative, but the life of that person should be celebrated! A friend of mine once said, at his daughter's funeral, "I am jealous that I cannot spend time with my Nicole, here on Earth, but my princess has gone home to her King!" Yes, we would love to grow old with our loved ones, but that may not be God's plan. His purpose for our lives may be shorter or longer, hard or easy, fast or slow... Whatever God's plan is for us, we need to accept His will for our lives and be gracious for all that we are blessed with. Easier said than done, but if we live by what we speak and what we know in our hearts, then God will provide the strength and endurance for us to get through it. Many of the PPB moms, as they have grown to be known as, have really shown me the true meaning of Faith and grace in God. They have endured some of life's most horrible battles, watched their children go through some of life's biggest challenges, and yet they still have faith in God and know that His will be done and that His purpose for us will shine-maybe not in front of us, but maybe His purpose is for our struggles and heartaches to bring others to know Him as their Personal Lord and Savior. I guess because God is so much bigger than us, we may never know. But having Faith in God will allow Him to do as He pleases and to bring others to know His love!

Moving Day

Hooray Hooray! It is officially moving day!! I know, I know- cheesy! But in all seriousness!! IT'S MOVING DAY!! We are moving to our own place! Just Jared, Jackson and I!!!

Don't get me wrong - We are very thankful to Paul and Julie for allowing us to live here as long as we have, but it is going to be so nice to have our own place. And I know Paul is going to be thankful to get his office back and Julie is going to be thankful to get her rooms back. - We have taken 3 of the 4 extra rooms!

I just can't wait to be able to do things the way I want them done. I appreciate all that Julie does for us, but it is hard as a new mom, and with my OCD, not to do things the way I want them done. I am just ridiculous that way and I get very anxious if something is done differently. I also notice because I don't have control over how things have been done, that my OCD is worse in some areas. I have actually gone to the ridiculous lengths of organizing my bathroom shelf with all the labels pointing outward and it is organized in the order that I use it... I also have a certain way that Jackson's bottles need to be washed and if they aren't washed that way, I redo them and then sterilize them. I am also a big germ freak and HATE bugs, and being on a farm has really challenged me. I love the farm and all the history that it brings, but I can't stand the infestation of those lady bug/asian beatles and the boxelder bugs! Ugh! I get grossed out just thinking about them. I also have issues with spiders and spiders LOVE the farm! Julie could sweep and vacuum three times a day and they would still be all over the place! I know those beatle things and spiders will be around at our new place, but hopefully not in such large quantities.
Besides the OCD and bugs, it will just be nice to have privacy again! Our marriage can get back on track!

So, beginning tomorrow at 9am when my dad arrives, at the farm to help us move, we will be moving the essentials to grama's house in LC, where we will live until we find a new house we want to buy. Grama's house is huge and has plenty of room for us. We can set up Jackson's crib in his own room without boxes towering over him-see the pic! Those are our boxes by the way, but there is no other place to put them. We can also set up our new big screen tv and Wii it up without having to worry about interfering with Amazing Race or Dancing with the Stars (paul and julie's favorite shows) :)

I am sure Jared will miss his mom's cooking, but I have learned a few new great recipes and in no time, they will be his favorites!

Once we get all moved in, we will be having a party to celebrate our independence and to show thanks to our parents for all they have done for us while we took over their homes. Make sure you watch the blog for the details!!

Christmas Day

It is finally here! Christmas Morning! I made a Russian Tea mix the day before so I sat and enjoyed a cup of tea while Jared helped his dad in the barns.
Today we celebrated with the Spencer Family-Julie's side. Everyone began arriving after noon and the men went out back to prepare the fish and smoke cigars. I sat with the kids, like usual, and played with Jackson or watched a Dora movie. Domo made his usual tackle on to my lap and told me all about his toys from Ho Ho, Nanna and Pappa, and his mom and daddy Rob. We were blessed to see Scottie and Erin's new little guy, Isaac. Avery is a very good big sister and made sure people stayed quiet around him. Addisson graced us with her beautiful smile and kept us busy with her walking and large appetite. For such a small princess, she sure can eat!
After lunch, we all broke off into different areas of the house. The guys played Pheffer, some of us played Wii and others played Shawna's new game-Apples to Apples. Around 6pm, we did our traditional White Elephant gift exchange. With the Spencers, you are always surprised by something odd and unique as a gift. Unfortunately, none of the usual gifts were passed on from last year. One year there was a uniquely crocheted owl can, another year there was a large stuffed bass that went around. This year, Jared stole Tony's knife set and with good Spencer tradition, Brandie stole it back and Jared ended up with a used shower head and Christmas lights. Super!
People began leaving shortly after the White Elephant exchange and we ended the night with a traditional viewing of It's a Wonderful Life!
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day filled with lots of love and laughter!

Christmas Eve

What a glorious day it is! Christmas morning!! The day that we celebrate the birth of our Saviour! Merry Christmas!!
Last night we spent Christmas Eve with my family and what a night it was! David and Shannon came down late because David is dealing with some health problems and had to make a run to the hospital before he drove 2 hours. He is healing, but slowly and painfully. Please pray for fast healing and strength as he gets better.
Katie, Kipp and Doran came down from the cities also! It is so nice to see Katie with someone so great like Kipp! He is a good man to Katie and Doran - and I know he hears it a lot, but I truly do hope that Katie and Kipp get married. He has a lot to offer Doran and watching him interact with Doran through his fits and fun... Kipp will make a great husband and father!!
Dad made his usual-an amazing meal! Mom sat and took everything in since she can't really move around a whole lot with her cast.
Pete and Jake did their usual goofing back and forth until someone yells at them. A few times! Jake talked a lot about a gift he ordered online - a pair of Nike shoes. We are all eager to see them as he talked them up so well!! Peter mentioned Maria quite a few times and then had mom read a card from her. Maria gave us all a gift- I got earrings, pink earrings. Good choice Maria!! Jackson got these great plush blocks- GREAT gift! I know he will love them. Jared received a nice dress shirt from her. He always love a good dress shirt!
Doran and I told the true Christmas Story of Jesus' birth. Dad taped it on his new digital camcorder!! Doran did a great job!
Shannon and David gave mom and dad a fabulous gift! Her dad does amazing wood carvings and carved them a bear and welcome sign. Mom's face lit up and she didn't stop smiling for the rest of the night! Good job guys! I would love to have her dad make us one of them-they are amazing and the detail is unreal!!
It was nice to have uncle Larry with us also! Dad really loves to have his siblings come over and it means a lot ot us that we can all get together. My aunt Margaret with Becky and uncle Larry are going to be there today for Christmas.
I love to spend time with my family like that! We all get along, no drama, just lots of love and laughter!
I hope you all were able to have a fabulous and joyous Christmas Eve! I pray that God's love with fill your lives and guide you in all that you do!
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

It is the eve of Christmas Eve. The night before the celebration truly begins.
Jared is hard at work to ensure his workload is lighter tomorrow and Jackson is upstairs sleeping. I have a few minutes before I become too exhausted to walk upstairs to bed. I have had an exciting weekend with lots of shopping and family time.

I have a couple of Christmas cards to finish and send out, but those will obviously go out after Christmas with a short note about my procrastination. I have tried diligently to complete tasks right away because I know as soon as Jackson needs me, I drop everything to pick him up and tend to his needs.

This Christmas will no doubt be a special one. With Jackson around, everything is special and new. He gives life a new twist. He makes you think about the simplicity and awe of life. He is giggling, rolling all over the place, and just loving life. My favorite thing about him is when he just watches what is going on. He seems to just be taking in as much as he can and loving every bit of life. He loves to put his hand on your face as you feed him-as if to take in the details of who you are. He is pure and so full of love. He reminds me to take life in and enjoy each part of it. He makes me appreciate quality time. I love to watch Jared interact with Jackson. It is a completely different kind of interaction than what Jackson has with other people. He seems to know that Jared is his dad and just loves to give him kisses and just spend time with him. Jared is definitely the best dad! He tunes everything else out and just loves on Jackson.

God has definitely blessed us with an amazing gift. We have our work cut out for us as parents of Jackson-God has given us a great responsibility to raise Jackson as a strong Christian and we plan to do our best at guiding him in God's ways. I truly believe that God has something HUGE in store for our family and I can't wait to watch it all unfold throughout the coming days and years.

May God bless each and everyone of you with a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous new year!!

Christmas Season is upon us!

What a wonderful time of the year! This is our favorite season and Holiday! Christmas! A time when family and friends join together and make memories! A time when we can rejoice in the birth of our Saviour!
I am currently working hard to get out all of our Christmas cards, but having a very busy five month old has proven that tasks take longer than expected. Jackson has been battling a cold since Friday and although it is getting better, he still has a bad cough and plugged nose that keep him up all night and day. He still masters his smile and good attitude though. Jackson has taught Jared and I that even when things are tough, a smile goes a long way. Since having Jackson, we laugh and smile a lot more and just enjoy each and every minute we are blessed with. He is a true blessing to this world and I know he is going to do huge things for God.

We recently spent Thanksgiving with all of Jared's family! Everyone made it here in MN! Rob and Betsy and the kids were here along with Caleb and Sharon. It was so great to see everyone and Julie was in heaven to have all the grandkids together! My family had our Thanksgiving on Sunday and everyone was there too! Katie and Kipp came from the cities and met Doran at my parents. David and Shannon came down and then left around 6pm so they could get their first Christmas tree together. It was nice to see David's excitement when he talked about it.
Doran had a blast creating his Wii character. It looks nothing like him, but he LAUGHED so hard as we added large sunglasses and a big beard to it.

Jared and I did the whole rush on the day after Thanksgiving. We got up at 4am, put Jackson (still sleeping) in his carseat and braved the Target rush to get our new tv. Quite the experience. Not sure we will ever do that again-at least not with Jackson, but it was fun to spend time together. We got coffees and waited in line-Jackson stayed sleeping the whole time. We met my parents for breakfast and then went to their house to take a nap. What a day!

We are going for Santa pics this weekend for Jackson. Hopefully he cooperates and it turns out okay. The pics are so expensive and you only get a couple chances.

This Holiday will definitely prove to be a big one for us. We want to make the best of it for Jackson so we are planning on taking it all in. We will take pics so he remembers or at least can look back and know that we went all out for him.

Have a great week!
